Hello... My name is Sarah and I'm the Chairperson of the Friends of Harold Court School - P.F.A.
I took on this role in April 2017 as I have a Son at the School. I am enjoying my role immensely and get great satisfaction knowing that we are making a difference.
The role of the P.F.A is to primarily raise much needed funds which go towards the items/equipment needed to benefit the children for their education, play and the School.
So far the P.F.A have orgainised the School Summer Fayre, 2 Easter Discos, a Charity Cake Sales, a Pop Up Tuck Shop, the Christmas Fayre, 2 Christmas Discos, and a visit from Santa with sweet treats being given to the students.
The P.F.A do these events as it is all about raising as much money as we can for the Children and we enjoy seeing many happy faces too.
I often get asked the question "Why do you do this and for free too?"... yep that's right... I volunteer my time, as do the other members of the P.F A and helpers, and the answer is simple... I do what I do for the School because I love making the kids happy and raising as much money for them as possible because our Children deserve the best in life.
With your help we can all make that happen... since April 17 - Dec 17 we've raised over £4,000 for the School... so that extra money to be spent on the things the normal School budget can't cover as it has already been allocated.
We can't raise money and put on events without your help and support though... Parent volunteers at our events, the Students and Teachers that help us too... it's all truly appreciated... but we need more people to come forward as it's always the same 6-10 families (including ourselves) out of a School of 400+ children that help.
The P.F.A is a small army of people (only 3 of us on the committee at the moment... and 3 regular volunteers)... so as you can imagine if we had more people on board we could achieve even greater things.
The P.F.A work very closely with the School and have the full support of the Head Teacher too. We meet regularly and discuss ideas... It really is a team effort for sure.
If you'd like to help or join the P.F.A then please get in touch with me... and please don't think having a little one at home means you can't help and puts you off from volunteering because rest assured you can help... I have a 20 month old by my side the whole time... my little sidekick ;)
We have lots planned for 2018/19... all our events will be published in the School newsletters and also on the Friends of Harold Court School Facebook page.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Please have a look below at some of the fantastic events we have held over the past year.
